The music that Frans Brüggen (red. artistic leader/conductor of the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century) loves to play most, he claims, is the music he plays now. Repertoire of the eighteenth century? Brüggen thinks that he shall not witness any major discoveries any more. “... Simon Murphy of the New Dutch Academy focusses on music from the Mannheimer Schule; Stamitz and stuff. But that’s such awful music! Recently we had to play a piano concerto by Pleyel with the Radio Kamer Filharmonie. Garbage.”
How remarkable!
What do you think Brüggen conducts on November 13?
